A Colorado Castle – Unique Wedding Venue

by on Jun.23, 2010, under Recommended Vendors

I had the pleasure of visiting a true Colorado castle this evening. I was first introduced to Dunafon Castle a few years ago, when I was a wedding planner.

Unfortunately, I never worked at this one-of-a-kind venue as a planner, but was recently able to help one couple protect their guests from the rain with our parasols. Here’s the story.

6:30 AM Saturday. I received a voice mail from the groom saying he’d been up all night listening to the pouring rain and hail. Their outdoor ceremony was scheduled for that afternoon and he needed umbrellas for his guests. We’d spoken earlier that week and he had decided to wait to see what the weather was like. Now that the bad weather was imminent, it was too risky to chance going without umbrellas.

1:00 PM Saturday. I delivered all available umbrellas to the groomsmen. They were an array of lilac, lemon, and pink. Luckily, the bridesmaids were wearing pink.

4:00 PM Saturday. Bridesmaids walked down the aisle, adorning parasols to protect them from the rain. According to those in attendance, it was stunning. Annie at Dunafon Castle mentioned that the guests used the umbrellas all night long while they enjoyed the outdoor portions of the estate.

I was excited to meet Annie in person tonight. She’s extremely helpful and kind. If you’re interested in having a unique wedding, with flair, privacy, and an estately feel, Dunafon Castle is a great venue. I also got to catch-up with Mark Hayes of Mark Hayes Photography. You’ll see his work with our product closeups. He’s a favorite photographer at the Castle, working there quite often.

Thanks to Annie and everyone at Dunafon Castle for hosting me tonight. I had a wonderful time.
